What is PDF/VCR
PDF/VCR (Variable Content Replacement) is a technology used in variable data printing applications. It enables the substitution of variable content within PDF templates.
By utilizing PDF template-based variable content substitution fields, PDF/VCR allows for the delivery of PDF template files ahead of print production runs. These templates can be reused across multiple runs, while PDF-based variable data is provided during print production and merged with the templates to generate final output with variable content.
PDF/VCR is defined by ISO 16613-1:2017 in the standard titled "Graphic technology — Variable content replacement — Part 1: Using PDF/X for variable content replacement (PDF/VCR-1).
